Annual Faculty Appreciation Dinner 2013

 November 6, 2013
What is involved in the perfect formula to harvest a meaningful relationship between an instructor and a student? Ask any member of the 2013-2014 Mortar Board and the answers will vary from compassion and sacrifice to an enthusiastic spirit. Twenty four individuals were able to recognize a faculty member that has made an impact and pushed them to success at the Alumni House on November 6, 2013. The night was filled with accolades, enjoyment, and even a few sticky barbeque covered fingers after the meal! The 2013 Faculty Appreciation Dinner falls under the category of success. While students proclaimed the impact a faculty member made on their personal and school life, many instructors reported that the students who selected them teach and impact them just as much.

Service: the action of helping or doing something for others

On Veteran's Day (November 11th, 2013) Mortar Board Members spread out all over campus to invite students and UNK staff to write thank you letters to our service men and women. This service event was a huge success and inspired many to give thanks and words of encouragement to those who are dedicated to preserving our country's freedom. UNK's Mortar Board Chapter is eager to send each letter along with the various other Mortar Board Chapters who engaged in this service event.

Zombie Night at the Storm Hockey Game

The exchange of support between the Tri-City Storm Hockey Team and Mortar Board took place on October 30th at the Zombie Night game. The Storm Team attained an exciting win and Mortar Board members cheered loudly between socializing and selling raffle tickets to fans. The opportunity to support the community's hockey team helped Mortar Board to raise funds early in the academic year to assist in the group's upcoming events. Thanks to all who supported Mortar Board and the Storm Hockey Team!

Some enthusiastic fans!
