Breakfast
with Santa is an annual event held in the Kearney community by the Kearney Area
Children's museum. The event allows children to meet Santa, eat pancakes, and
participate in many holiday activities in crafts. In addition, the children are
encouraged to attend in their pajamas. The event was held on Saturday, December
10th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Breakfast with Santa is an
incredibly popular event in the Kearney community and it is always highly
attended. Mortar Board members help set up for the event the night before. In
addition, members ran several activities and crafts the day of the event and
members also helped clean up. The Children's Museum was couldn't thank the
Chapter enough for the help. They said that they would undoubtedly be in
contact with Mortar Board for many events in the future.

GOOD LUCK ON FINALS VISIBILITY BOOTH
During Dead Week, the members staffed a booth in the Nebraskan Student Union to wish
students luck on finals. Members also
used this booth as a marketing tool to get the word out to remind students to
apply for membership for the upcoming year. Members handed out popcorn and brochures informing students what Mortar
Board is all about. What better way to get a student’s attention than handing out food?!

TOPPERZ FUNDRAISER FOR ARC
In
November, the Chapter assisted in raising money for an Inclusive Playground
being organized by the ARC of Buffalo County.
To raise money for this project, the Chapter set up a small booth at
Topperz, a local frozen yogurt shop.
Donations were collected through customers placing change in a bucket
and Topperz donating $1 for every purchase made that day. Paloma Mena-Werth, a current member, received a
donation from her parents as well. The fundraiser
raised $500 to donate towards the Inclusive Playground! The playground will be built at Harmon Park. Construction will begin this summer.
